Yoga Workshops in the Lake District and UK

In a full day yoga workshop you learn how to transform unhealthy patterns that are stuck in the physical and energy bodies as stiff joints, poor breathing and emotional stagnation. Through a longer, all day immersion, you incorporate this knowledge to a degree that is not possible in regular yoga classes.

You will experience stretching and opening of the myofascial (muscles and fascia) tissues and joints that will facilitate healthier patterns of functional alignment. Attending these workshops will help you to crystallise strong, new, healthy patterns in order that you can cultivate strength in that newly discovered reality.

You will experience freedom in the most dense structure of your body: the skeleton. If the skeleton is freed, then the breath is freed and the physical and energetic bodies are closer to harmony. It’s a wonderful and more lasting feeling.

Quite often our efforts in yoga asana can be wasted in an eternal tide of subconscious, or physical struggle. These workshops are an opportunity to expose your self to deeper levels of awareness that will allow these patterns to correct themselves.

Who can attend?

All workshops are suitable for all levels of practice. Whether you are interested in more "advanced" postures or not, these workshops will show you why it is important to open the body respecting the functional alignment of your body and also strengthen it.

Yin Yoga Immersion 2 (Upper body new material added*)

Saturday 11th of November 2017 10am-5pm

Price: £75

Teas and biscuits included

Following 9 weeks (300 hours) teacher training in California with Paul and Suzie Grilley I really want to continue to share with you the amazing benefits of yin yoga. I have been incorporating Paul’s teaching into my work for some time, and now I’d love to share more of his latest thinking and discoveries with you in a full day of pure yin yoga.

Yin yoga promotes mindfulness and healing, targeting the connective tissues of the hips, thighs, pelvis and lower spine mainly. In simple terms yin yoga as taught by my teacher Paul Grilley involves postures that are held for 2 or more minutes, without muscular tension encouraging adaptations to suit your uniquely shaped skeleton.

In this workshop we will have a full day of exploration of Yin practices to open the body deeply and effectively developing an understanding of functional alignment that can be applied and it will be helpful and instructive for your practice of Hatha Yoga, Dynamic Vinyasa flow, Iyengar, or any other style of yoga that you are currently practicing.

In this workshop we will also see some new material relevant to the function of the upper body.

Venue: Continuumyoga Studio, Rayrigg Farm Studios, Rayrigg Road, Windermere, LA23 1BW.

Taught by Gabriela Maass, Senior teacher, Yoga alliance Professionals Paul Grilley 300hrs. and assisted by Matt France (Yin Yoga certified).

“Asana practice serves two purposes, it develops awareness of chi movement in the physical dimension and prepares the body for sitting comfortably in meditation. Yin yoga is the relaxed practice of floor postures for three to five minutes at a time, it emphasizes the connective tissues of the hips, thighs, pelvis and lower spine. By drawing awareness away from the muscles and deeper into the bones, a deep level of relaxed focus is achieved. Yang yoga is the rhythmic, flowing repetition of movements that require strength and balance. A Yang practice emphasizes the muscle tissues and circulatory system. Yang yoga leaves one feeling invigorated and alert” -Paul Grilley, Yin Yoga Teacher Trainer
